About Votspot
What is Votspot?
A voting platform for in-person events. Each vote has a QR; whoever scans it can only vote if they're physically inside the event radius (verified by GPS). Ideal for assemblies, fairs, festivals and HOA meetings.
How is it different from Slido or Mentimeter?
Votspot adds GPS-based location verification: the voter has to be physically inside the event radius for their vote to count. Slido and Mentimeter are designed for remote surveys and don't include GPS geofencing by default. If your priority is making sure only people actually present can vote, Votspot is the tool specifically built for that.
Do voters need to download the app?
No. Voters scan the QR with their phone camera and vote on a web page. Only the organizer needs the app (or the web version at app.votspot.com).
Which devices are supported?
Organizers can use the Android app, iOS app (coming soon) or the web version at app.votspot.com. Voters only need a phone with camera and GPS — Android, iOS, modern browser.
For voters
What if I don't have GPS enabled?
Votspot will request location permission. If you deny it, you can't vote — presence verification is mandatory. You can enable it from your browser settings and try again.
Is my data stored?
The vote itself is anonymous. Location is only used at vote time to check the distance to the event; it's not stored. If the vote requires Google login, your email is associated with the vote but only the organizer sees it. More details in our Privacy Policy.
I voted and it says 'Already voted'. Why?
Each person can vote once per vote. Detection is based on your account (if logged in) or an anonymous browser fingerprint. If you think it's an error, contact the event organizer.
Can I change my vote?
By default no, to ensure vote integrity.
For organizers
How much does my first vote cost?
It's free. The Free plan includes 30 voters per session and 30 per month. If you need more, there are monthly plans (Pro €49, Business €99, Enterprise €249) or pay-per-event packs from €29 for one-off events.
How do I configure the voting radius?
When creating a vote you pick the center (with map or search) and the radius in meters (10-1000 m). Anyone outside that circle can't vote. We recommend 50-100 m for indoor assemblies and 200-500 m for fairs or open festivals.
Can I restrict who votes to a list of emails?
Yes, with closed roll (included in Pro plan and above, and in any pay-per-event package). You paste the list of authorized emails and only those can vote (with mandatory Google login). Useful for member assemblies, shareholder meetings, etc.
What are multi-point events?
An event with several votes at once (e.g. a fair with 15 stands where the audience votes for their favorite in each category). Voters scan a single QR, pass verification once and pick which points to vote. Available from the Business plan or with any pay-per-event package (PPE).
How do I see the results?
From the app dashboard, opening the vote. You'll see live votes with charts. Higher plans let you hide results from voters (publish only on close) and download a results report PDF with verification hash.
Payments and plans
How do I change plans?
From the app: Profile → My plans → select the workspace → 'Change plan'. Stripe Checkout opens to enter your card. Upgrades are immediate.
Is there a commitment period?
No. Monthly plans are cancellable anytime from the Stripe portal ('Manage billing' in the plan view). You keep access until the end of the paid month.
What payment methods do you accept?
Card (Visa, Mastercard, Amex) and SEPA Direct Debit in the EU. For large volumes (>10,000 voters with SLA or formal invoice), email us at hello@votspot.com.
Is there an annual discount?
Yes, ~17% off when paying annually (equivalent to 2 months free).
Can I pay only for a specific event?
Yes, those are the pay-per-event (PPE) packs: S €69 (300 voters), M €199 (1,000), L €749 (5,000), XL €1,299 (10,000). And there's a custom calculator if your volume doesn't fit these tiers.
Technical and security
How do you prevent duplicate votes?
Layers you combine per plan: browser fingerprint, IP counter, invisible captcha (Cloudflare Turnstile), mandatory Google login, single-use tokens (pre-printed codes or generated on the fly). Plus geolocation, always.
What if someone fakes the GPS?
The mobile browser gets the location from the OS itself, which combines GPS, Wi-Fi and cellular. Faking it requires specific apps with root/jailbreak permissions. For events where this matters most, combine geolocation with pre-printed physical tokens.
Is there a risk of service outage?
Our infrastructure runs on top-tier cloud providers with automatic redundancy. To date, 99.99% availability. In the very unlikely case of an incident during an event, queued votes are processed on recovery.
Are you GDPR compliant?
Yes. Your data is stored on EU-based servers, we don't share it with third parties, and voters can exercise access or erasure rights writing to hello@votspot.com. Full legal documentation at votspot.com/privacy.
Can I export the data?
Yes, from each vote's results screen: CSV download (Pro+) and results report PDF with verification hash (Enterprise plan and all PPEs).
